I talk to the trees

Lloyd Edwards, is a Gqeberha local. Conservation is in his blood, and he started the Baywatch Project back in 1992 with aims to educate the community, assist in marine law enforcement and marine research, and undertake its own independent research. A few years later Lloyd founded Raggy Charters to fund the Baywatch Project and its numerous Projects. Raggy Charters is the oldest Marine-Eco Cruise company combined with a research project in Africa.

Lloyd’s passion for the natural environment extends to flora as well as fauna. He is the chairman of the Eastern Cape Dendrological Society, and is dedicated to promoting the knowledge, protection, and propagation of trees in South Africa.

The small indigenous forest at Gerald’s Gift Guest House is the ideal venue to examine a wide variety of trees up close without having to hike for hours.  Lloyd’s passion will make you rush to the nursery to pick up a couple of indigenous trees for your garden!
